Adult Lessons
Adult lessons at Grand Beam Atelier begin with a posture and grip check, then a groove you can feel in your torso — not only in your hands. We use pads and full kit depending on the day’s goal.
Beginners learn single strokes, doubles, basic rock and soul patterns, and how to count without panic. Intermediate players tackle independence layers, fills that land, and dynamics that suit band contexts.
Reading is introduced with honesty: some adults want it, some prefer ear-led paths. Both are valid; we will not shame either.
Lesson length is typically fifty minutes. Blocks of four keep momentum. Missed sessions need twenty-four hours’ notice when possible so we can open the kit to someone else.
Bring sticks if you have preferred models; otherwise use house sticks for the first visit. Hearing protection is available and encouraged.
Lesson plans adapt when you join a band mid-semester or need wedding-set tempos. We will rearrange goals rather than pretend nothing changed. Stick choice, throne height, and pedal technique are revisited whenever pain appears — stop early beats playing through warning signs. Video homework is optional; written cues are standard. Maribor traffic happens; message if you will be late by more than ten minutes.
